Storm Frank Bridge

The UK is braced for more flooding chaos after heavy rain and gales struck parts of the country as Storm Frank prepares to make landfall.

Following the catastrophic damage inflicted by Storm Desmond earlier this winter, residents in Scotland and Cumbria are facing new flood warnings.

Parts of Northern Ireland have already been hit by Storm Frank, the sixth named storm of the season.

There are currently four severe flood warnings — which indicate a danger to life — in place. Three of them are for separate areas in Croston, Lancashire, and a fourth is for Tadcaster in North Yorkshire.

Frank is expected to make landfall in northwest in England and southwest Scotland soon, bringing with it gales and heavy downpours.

These videos show the strength of the storms already hitting parts of Britain and Ireland.

This is the moment that Tadcaster Bridge in North Yorkshire collapsed.

In other developments:

• Looters have targeted flooding victims’ homes in York in an act condemned by police.

• Winds are predicted to reach speeds of around 80mph.

• Multiple flights into Belfast International Airport were affected by the severe weather.
